this is what the washington memorial looks like as you wait in line for tickets to the national tree lighting ceremony, starting at 4:30am. it's cold and most people are quiet and sitting on the sidewalk. fuzzy mist drifts back and forth across the lawn. some people have doughnuts. not me. i have italian homework. i was line-stander #248 and i got 4 tickets for the tree lighting. was it worth it? we shall see. but atleast it was pretty to watch the morning come to DC.
